Imagine you’re on the streets with no money, no home to go to, and no family to help you. Where will your next meal come from? Where will you sleep tonight? Who can you trust?
People fall into homelessness for many reasons. For some, it’s substance abuse, but for others, who have worked hard all their life, an unexpected illness, loss of employment, or simply the rising costs of living had become overwhelming.
Mobile Rescue Mission, a ministry of Waterfront Rescue Mission, believes that everyone deserves a safe, warm place to sleep and since 1949 the Mobile Rescue Mission has provided such a place right here in Mobile. Every night, hundreds of men and women seek refuge at one of the Mission’s shelters. In 2015 alone, the Mobile Rescue Mission provided over 23,000 nights of safe shelter to homeless men and more than 87,000 meals to the hungry in our community.
Emergency shelter guests can stay overnight at the Mission for three nights a month and receive a safe place to sleep, a nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner, a shower and fresh clothing.
Never before has the need to care for those less fortunate been more pressing. The Mission is experiencing a growing demand for meals, beds and services across Mobile and the surrounding areas.
